Church Connections

Local friends and historic ties

Mosaic Community Church is located in Silver Spring, MD. We are a new mission church and part of the Presbyterian Church in American (PCA).

Founded in 1973, the PCA has grown over the past four decades and most recently has focused extensive resources to plant churches in center city areas. This has resulted in substantial growth in large cities on both the East and West coasts. At Mosaic, our focus area includes Silver Spring and lower Montgomery County. Find out more about our story.

Being connected to the PCA means that we are not just a stand-alone church. We have historic connections to a confessional tradition as well as geographic connections with a Presbytery and General Assembly. This means that local and regional churches doing work together to establish Christian community. Presbyterianism derives its name from each church being led by a group of elders (or presbyters). Similar to the system of government in the United States: leaders are elected by the members of a local church and serve together to make decisions.

As part of this connection, we serve alongside other like-minded churches in the area. If your neighborhood (e.g. home, job, school) is closer to one of these options, we would encourage you to check out:

  • Christ Community Church [Germantown]
  • City of Hope [Columbia]
  • Fourth Presbyterian Church [Bethesda]
  • Grace DC - Downtown [Capitol Hill, Gallery Place]
  • Grace DC - Meridian Hill [Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, Adams Morgan]
  • Shady Grove Presbyterian Church [Gaithersburg]
  • Wallace Presbyterian Church [College Park, Beltsville, Langley Park, Hyattsville]

Other ministries of the PCA include Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) which meets locally at the University of Maryland on Wednesday nights, Ministry to State, and international mission work headed by Mission to the World (MTW).
