Created For a Purpose

Rev. Joel St. Clair
Genesis 1:26-2:3

God created the heavens, the earth, and all that is within them. Yet the most important aspect of creation was creating humanity, both male and female. We are created in God’s image, which gives us dignity as well as a purpose: we are called to represent God in all that that we do. We find ultimate hope in the God who became human, who helps us return to our true calling as image bearers.

This series focuses on our union with Jesus Christ. That is the framework for our salvation from a
number of Pauline letters (see usage of “in Christ”). Scripture paints a picture of human life as something
created by God for a purpose, called by Him to live & follow, and in Jesus Christ to become more and
more like him. Together, we’ll examine how our union with Jesus challenges our understanding of life today in the 21st century.
