Growing in Rest

Rev. Joel St. Clair
Mark 2:23-28

Jesus reorients the religious leaders to recognize that Sabbath is not about following rules, but for humanity to find rest and nourishment in him. As we live in a culture that overemphasizes work, the Lord of rest calls us to slow down and remember His work accomplished on our behalf.

Turning to God in faith transforms us into a new creation -- it changes the way we approach all aspects of our lives. This means that growing in our faith involves the reshaping of our thoughts, attitudes, and regular habits in life. By practicing these transformed habits, we can get a deeper appreciation of who God is and what he is doing in our lives both individually and collectively as a church community.
